I’m a bit of a bag and purse nut. I’m not about bling or brand names. I’m all about finding the unique and quirky. I especially love really interesting thrift store finds that need to be put to good use and saved from el trasho.
Here are my top 5 favorite bags to give you a sense of what I mean.
#5 – Yo. Cats have laser beams for eyes
YES! My friend Alicia found me this gem of a tote in a thrift store in Sun Valley, Idaho. Not only are the kittens psychotically colored and surrounded by nonsensical ginormous red roses, the cats also have laser beams for eyes.
#4 – Vintage tapestry purse
This is a great little tapestry purse that I found in a thrift store in Bend, Oregon for $2. The lady at the register tried to charge me even less for it but I told her no way. It goes perfectly with fur stoles and black gloves for a night on the town.
#3 – A generic but very used very Vera Bradley tote
I love this bag so much it’s almost wrong. I use it almost everyday because my laptop and then some fit in it easily. If you could see the handle, you’d get a sense for how much I use it. And how much I don’t want to part with it. This may appear in a later post about the art of patching. 🙂
#2 – Cat portrait grocery bag
This bag just makes me laugh. And whenever people see me with it, I can tell that they’re utterly tempted to ask if I’m a cat lady. It’s a great reusable grocery tote that’s made in Portland, Oregon. I bought one with running stallions on it for my friend Alicia.
#1 – Leather boot purse
I fell in love with this bag and bought it in a small local shop in the Columbia City neighborhood in Seattle, Washington. It’s a hand-tooled and handcrafted leather bag. Love it.
If you have a bag or purse you love, post or send a picture of it and tell us why.
