During the colder months of winter, I definitely like things that are highly textured–maybe it’s the perception that somehow, something that’s lofty and full gives the impression that it’ll keep you warmer. Ragwool gloves and cable knit fisherman sweaters are a couple of things that come to mind when I think about what I associate with that kind of wintertime warmth.
With that in mind, I knitted another buttoned scarf last month. Like the last buttoned scarf, I made this scarf on larger knitting needles with a highly textured and lofty yarn.
This look is definitely inspired by two things– (1) those color-blocked mod dresses with the high-constrast buttons from the 1960s and (2) the large geometric and dramatic draped look popularized by Japanese designers from the 1980s.
I’m probably going to make one more scarf this year from some yarn that my friend Kirsten gave to me. If you’ve knitted anything fabulous this winter, send in pictures. I’d love to showcase your work in a post.
